Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department are searching for a suspect after a shooting at a polling place March 5. According to NBC4, the victim of the shooting is a 35-year-old man. The incident took place at Watts elementary school around 9:40 a.m.
A preliminary police investigation said the victim and gunman were arguing outside the polling place before the shooting occurred. The incident is believed to be a domestic dispute as a result of an alleged "love triangle," the article stated
The gunman fled the scene, while the victim retreated back into the polling after being shot. The news source said the Los Angeles City Clerk's Office had not confirmed whether or not the victim was a poll worker.
As a result of the shooting, the school was placed on lockdown and the polling place closed for approximately 30 minutes, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Reports said the victim was taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries and was listed in stable condition.
Police were continuing their search for the identified suspect whose name has not been released. According to the news source NBC4, a woman believed to be involved in the dispute was taken in for questioning by police.
