$100,000 bail bond set for Orange County man

A man in Orange County was driving drunk at a high rate of speed when he allegedly killed his brother and injured his nephew. According to the Orange County District Attorney's office, Felix Jacobo Brito is charged with one felony count of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated without gross negligence.

He is also charged with a felony count of driving under the influence and causing bodily injury as well as a misdemeanor of driving a motor vehicle without a valid license.

Theo Lacy Jail escapee captured

An inmate who recently escaped from Theo Lacy Jail in Orange County has been found by authorities. According to ABC Los Angeles affiliate KABC, a tip is what led deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Department to the wanted inmate, 26-year-old Saith Na. Authorities said Na was arrested without incident when he was taken back into custody.

According to ABC, Na was captured at a motel in Oceanside March 2 at about 5:30 a.m.

Na has been in jail since last August on charges stemming from robbery, narcotics, weapon possession and criminal street terrorism offenses, news source ABC says.

Police recently identified a Santa Ana resident who was killed after she was struck by a car while crossing the street. Following an investigation, police discovered the woman was 79-year-old Dinh Evans. According to the Orange County Register, the officers were able to determine the elderly woman wasn't using a cross walk, which Santa Ana police Sgt. Phil Craft said most likely contributed to the accident. The officers don't suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in Evans' death, however, they will continue to investigate the situation.

Suspects held at Orange County Jail

The Santa Ana Police Department recently arrested two people involved in what officers are calling a kidnap-for-robbery/stalking case, CBS reported. However, officers said a third suspect involved in the crime has not been found.

Jose Parede​s and the unknown suspect are accused of assaulting a man after pretending to be Ontario police officers. The other arrested individual, Rosa Tinoco, allegedly constructed the scheme to attack the man, who is believed to be her ex-boyfriend, according to CBS. Tinoco allegedly convinced the two men to carry out the assault on the victim after he ended their relationship.

Santa Ana police said they have arrested the man who broke into a woman's apartment, held her hostage and forced her to cook a meal for him. According to ABC affiliate KABC, local transient Thomas Walker was already in police custody for selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer when officers determined he had previously broken into the woman's apartment as well as another apartment in the same building complex.

Teen uses bail bond in Orange County

An 18-year-old suspected of murder will appear in Orange County court on March 22 to set a date for his jury trial. Reda Hassan Safieddine was arrested by police after allegedly shooting 17-year-old Valle Valeriano on August 13, 2012. Before the shooting, the two were allegedly arguing in a residential neighborhood in Fountain Valley, according to Fountain Valley Patch.

After posting his $1 million bail bond, Safieddine has remained out of jail.

A man involved in a five-hour standoff with police was arrested February 6 and taken to the Orange County Jail. According to the Orange County Register, Edward Uribe was charged with three felony counts and three misdemeanors.

Charges include possession of a firearm, prohibited possession of ammunition, possession of methamphetamine, transporting a controlled substance to jail, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and being under the influence of methamphetamine, the Register reported.

Orange County Sheriff’s Department arrest suspected burglars

The effectiveness of the prison realignment system in California may face more scrutiny after two parolees were recently arrested. The two men were reportedly a part of more than 100 break-ins that occurred in Orange County since October. According to CBS, four individuals were arrested after police followed up a call about strangers ringing doorbells in the Yorba Linda neighborhood.

Of the four arrested, two had previously been charged with burglary and were on parole. CBS reported the individuals who violated terms of their probation were Andrew Gatlin and Terrence Collins.
