Sheriff's deputies arrested a man in San Clemente on suspicion of a burglary that took place in Laguna Hills on the evening of April 18.

After a tip was called in on April 22, an Orange County Sheriff's deputy arrived in the Los Molinos district of San Clemente just after noon. The San Clemente Patch reported that a man tipped off the sheriff's department after recognizing 27-year-old Brian Michael Vaught as the man who allegedly burglarized his home on Maplewood Drive the previous week. According to the Voice of Orange County, 59-year-old Tatsuya Suda was a member of the educational institution's faculty for over two decades, and he now faces six felony counts in Superior Court in Santa Ana for allegedly receiving up to $700,000 in illegal funds between 2006 to 2009 from the Japanese corporation KDDI Inc.

Man booked in Orange County Jail for alleged bank robbery

A 35-year-old man was recently arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail after he allegedly attempted to rob a Fountain Valley, California, bank. According to Patch.com, police arrested John Mclaughlin on April 22 after a witness called in the department's tip line. The witness told the police officers Mclaughlin had been acting suspiciously the moments before he allegedly attempted to rob the Fountain Valley Citibank. According to police reports, Mclaughlin entered the facility and handed the bank teller a note demanding cash. After the teller gave Mclaughlin money, he fled the scene by foot.

Parents booked into Orange County Jail on truancy charges

Six parents in Orange County, California, were recently arrested for allowing their children to be "chronically truant" from school. According to CBS affiliate KCAL, 38-year-old Toya Daniels, 48-year-old Gustavo Martinez, 37-year-old Maria de la Luz Martinez, 33-year-old Cheree Peoples, 32-year-old Yoni Marie Aranda and 34-year-old Virginia Ferrer Avila were taken into custody and booked into the Orange County Jail after their children missed school on a regular basis. Each of them have been charged with one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one misdemeanor count of failure to reasonably supervise or encourage school attendance.

Orange County Sheriff’s department steps up security in wake of Boston bombings

On April 15, dual bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon in Copley Square, leaving three dead and around 150 wounded. As CNN reported, the investigation is ongoing, but according to federal law enforcement agents, at least one of the bombs was made inside a metal pressure cooker and carried in a backpack. Authorities believe that both explosive devices were small enough to fit into boxes or bags.

The $5K Bandit arrested, held in Orange County Jail

Since 2011, FBI agents have been tracking a man who they believe is responsible for a string of bank robberies in Los Alamitos, California where he stole $5,000 each time. Dubbed "The $5K Bandit," he held-up the same bank in Los Alamitos on three separate occasions, each time at knife-point.

For reasons that have Captain Bruce McAlpine of the Los Alamitos Police Department baffled, the suspect returned to the same U.S. Bank for a fourth time on April 15, wearing similar clothes and wielding what appeared to be the same knife used in prior instances, the Sun reported.

Authorities from the Costa Mesa Police Department, with an Orange County Sheriff's Department helicopter, arrested a man who allegedly robbed a bank customer at an ATM March 16. Orange County Sheriff’s Department makes St. Patrick’s Day DUI arrests

Orange County Sheriff's Department deputies were on patrol during St. Patrick's Day weekend to catch any drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A total of 45 people were arrested when authorities determined the drivers may be driving at intoxication levels exceeding the legal limit, the Orange County Register reported. The sheriff's department's DUI task force increased enforcement throughout the community, which led to the arrests on county roads and freeways across Orange County.

The number of arrests during the holiday weekend was down compared to last year. Sixty-four people were arrested during St. Patrick's Day weekend in 2012, the Register reported.
