Lake County Jail Struggles To Deal With Overcrowding

Deputies at the Lake County Jail say they're still dealing with the growing pains brought on by the state's inmate realignment program.

The problem has become so big, according to sources, that earlier this month, a sheriff's department scanner overheard a deputy saying the jail was so busy that they had to place a temporary stop to new bookings.

This posed quite the challenge, especially since law enforcement had just detained a 25 year-old suspect.  At that point, it was 8:45 a.m.   Booking logs show the man, Jamie Flores, didn't start the booking process until noon.

Man Accused Of Killing Bakersfield Bail Bondsmen Pleads No Contest

The man who has been accused of murdering two bail bondsmen in April 2012 has entered a "no contest" plea with the court.

The defendant, 28 year-old Stephen Stewart is set to be scheduled toward the end of next month and in exchange for the plea, his murder charges and other felonies will be dismissed. Instead, Stewart will be sentenced on two counts of voluntary manslaughter.

Bondsmen throughout the country traveled to Kern County to mourn the loss of brothers Brandon and Zachary Sims, and Dog the Bounty Hunter, aka Duane Chapman, also flew in from Hawaii.

Plans for North County Jail Move Forward

The main jail in Santa Barbara has been dealing with inmate overcrowding. Each day, there are almost 1,000 inmates being housed there.

A report says that the plan to move forward with a new North County Jail in Santa Barbara County has been approved by the Board of Supervisors.

The North County Jail will allow 400 inmates to be transferred out of main jail facility.

Plans for the new jail will place it on the corner of Black and Betteravia Roads in Santa Maria. It will also be designed to blend in with the Mission-style buildings that will surround it instead of …

Audit Finds LAX Pays LAPD $8M For “Unknown” Services

An independent audit has found that the Los Angeles International Airport paid nearly $8 million to the Los Angeles Police Department to provide police services at the airport- but records of the payments- and the services the LAPD provided, do not exist.

A spokesperson for the Newport Beach Police Department has confirmed they have acquired two new police vehicles- but they're not what you'd think.

They didn't buy motorcycles or squad cars- but instead, set their sights on two electric bikes.

Electric bikes are becoming all the rage in Southern California since the devices, which can travel up to 25 miles per hour, need little maintenance and can travel quite a distance.

Out-of-Hand College Party Leads To 100 Arrests

A spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Jail has confirmed they booked nearly 100 people into the system last weekend after a weekend college party got out of hand.

Although police aren't sure what prompted the display of violence, what they do know is that by the end of it, many people were throwing rocks and beer bottles at one another.
