In a press release, the Laguna Beach Police Department announced the arrest of two men who had been involved in a robbery last October. The suspects were arrested at separate locations in South Los Angeles.
Detectives were called to the scene of the robbery on the evening of October 13, 2012, after assailants had entered a home in Laguna Beach, terrorized and pistol whipped the occupants, and robbed them. After leaving with a "significant amount of jewelry," the suspects reportedly ran towards a nearby shopping center, according to the press release.
Though the incident initially appeared to be random and no leads were generated until November, when a South Los Angeles gang known as the Bounty Hunter Bloods appeared to be connected to it. The gang is based out of the Nickerson Gardens housing development and has a history of violence, according to the LBPD.
After a Laguna Beach detective met with Los Angeles Police Department gang officers, surveillance was conducted on the gang. One of the members of the Bounty Hunter Bloods was found in possession of a cell phone that was stolen during the Laguna Beach home robbery, leading to the identification of the two suspects: Tyrone Lamont Beasley, 21, and Jyvontaye Demetric Harris, 20, both residents of Los Angeles.
Arrest warrants were issued for both men on April 19, each for $500,000 and allege robbery, residential burglary, false imprisonment, use of a firearm during a robbery and gang enhancements, according to the LBPD.
Beasley was arrested on April 22 at a South Los Angeles home, said the LBPD. Harris was arrested the same day at Compton Court where he was attending a pre-trial hearing on a separate case for possessing a loaded firearm in public. His previous arrest took place in March and resulted in a $50,000 bail bond, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's website.
Both men were transported to the Orange County Jail for booking.
