A Day In The Life Of A Stockton PD Recruit

It's not often that you get a behind-the-scenes look into the life of a Stockton Police Department recruit.

Earlier this month, one courageous man decided to share his story.  His first day started off with some paperwork.  Much to no one's surprise, he was asked to sign a waiver.   This, he said, exempted the department from liability should he become injured during his training.

The training would not be easy.  Getting through the orientation would be the easy part.  Passing the physical fitness component and scoring well on the gun range would be a different story.

Police Officer Honored For Saving Man From Pitbull Attack

A 28 year-old female police officer that works for the Stockton Unified School District has received a prestigious Silver Star award.   Officer Megan Robinson has been honored for her role in saving a local man from a pit bill attack.

County officials have confirmed that this is the only Silver Star that has been granted in the past 20 years.
 
The incident took place in early June.  It was during that time that Robinson was driving in her patrol car and came upon a bloodied man who had been badly hurt.  Report records show he was stumbling around in the middle …

More Beds Needed At San Joaquin County Jail

A spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Jail has confirmed that a Grand Jury has issued a report which says the county should add bed space to the county's detention center.  They have also suggested a beefing up of law enforcement services and justice staffing.   The report was released approximately one week ago.

It was found that the county is doing what they can in order to protect the public, but additional steps need to be taken.  They have acknowledged that budget cuts and lack of funding has been a key issue.  The report was not meant to criticize, they …

Stockton Police Participate In Large Drug Bust

Earlier last week the Stockton Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and other local law enforcement agencies participated in something called Operation Gideon IV.  The operation was a joint effort in which more than 20 raids and 200 law enforcement actions were taken.  A total of 84 firearms, including machine guns and short barrel rifles were seized.  More than 50 people were arrested.  Approximately 21 pounds of marijuana, 100 grams of heroin, 36 pounds of methamphetamine and 55 grams of crack were also seized.

Vehicle Sniper Booked Into San Joaquin County Jail

Representatives from the San Joaquin County Jail have confirmed they are detaining a man who is accused of shooting at vehicles earlier this week.

Stockton Police said they received numerous calls that an unknown man was opening fire at cars and trucks as they drove through city streets.  The motive for the crime was not known.  No one was injured during the shooting spree.   Several days later members of the highway patrol pulled over a black sedan for failing to dim his high beams for oncoming traffic.  The patrolman did a visual sweep of the interior of the vehicle and …
