BIG BEAR SHERIFF STATION AND JAIL INFORMATION

The Big Bear Sheriff Station is host to the City of Big Bear Lake's contract law enforcement personnel and staff. This serves the unincorporated area. The station utilizes a community policing philosophy to reduce or eliminate problems within the area.  The team assembled at the Big Bear Station provides a high level of professionalism and dedicated service to the community

Additionally, a type I jail facility is housed within the county building. If someone is arrested in the Big Bear area they will be transported to this facility which is a smaller jail and holds inmates for pre-trial. Should the defendant not be bailed out from this small jail, they may be transferred to the West Valley Detention Center.

Once the defendant has been booked they may be released with no further charges filed or, the bail and arraignment may be set by the jail or court. In some cases, the defendant may be released on their Own Recognizance. We are happy to answer any questions about the booking and the release options for a defendant.

BAIL BOND COSTS

The bail bond fee in California is set at 10% by the California Department of Insurance. This is a non-refundable percentage of the total amount of the bail.  Should the bail amount be $20,000, your portion will cost $2,000.
