PERRIS SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT SUBSTATION
Police services for the City of Perris have been contracted with the Riverside County Sheriff's Office since April 11, 1996. The Sheriff's department is also contracted with Canyon Lake and Menifee. The Perris Station also provides services for the communities of Gavilan Hills, Glen Valley, Homeland, Lake Matthews, Mead Valley, Romoland, and Woodcrest.
The Riverside Sheriff's Forensic Services also operates out of this station. It is responsible for the collection, preservation and identification of evidence for all of the stations in the western side of the county.
When someone is arrested in the area of the Perris Sheriff's Department Substation, they will likely be taken to the Southwest Detention Center for booking. The booking process could take several hours to complete, depending on how busy jail staff members are when an individual is brought in. The process will include photographs ("mug shots"), fingerprinting, a background check and nationwide warrant search. The bail amount will be determined by the county bail schedule. Once they are completely booked in, the defendant will have the opportunity to make phone calls.
If they have the funds available, the defendant can post bail themselves. Most often, a friend or family member will have to come and either pay the full amount of the bail, in cash or with cashier's check, or get the help of a licensed California bail bondsman.
