    WOMEN ARRESTED IN O.C.

It should be noted that several police and Sheriff Department stations in Orange County have women's holding facilities including Santa Ana, Anaheim, Fullerton, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, La Habra and Newport.

However, if they do not have a female officer available for booking and search, women arrested are taken directly to Orange County Women’s Jail located in Santa Ana.

Similarly, women arrested in other jurisdictions may be transferred to OCJ women's jail while awaiting trial or arraignment if they are not bailed out of the smaller local jail quickly.

The jail houses both sentenced and pre-trial maximum security inmates. The Women's Jail is physically adjacent to the OCSD men's jail. Together, the complex is known as the Orange County Jail Complex (or OCJ). Parking for the jail is located across the street in a pay parking structure.

In addition to providing for the care and custody of the women in the jail, the Orange County Sheriff's Department provides opportunities for vocational and educational training for inmates housed at this facility.

The central jail complex sits next to the Orange County’s Sheriff's Headquarters which is located on North Flower Street in Santa Ana. The jail is a traditional style cell block and dormitory jail facility comprised of three separate jail facilities.

    BOOKING AND BAIL PROCESS

When a woman is arrested in Orange County, she will be taken to either a local police station or OCJ for booking and processing. It may take six to 24 hours for the booking process to be completed. Timing is subject to the volume of processing at the jail, waiting for nation-wide background checks and general operating processes such as shift changes and feeding times.

The wait can be frustrating and is, unfortunately unavoidable. However, as professional bondsmen, we can often help you through understanding the bail process, completing paperwork and posting the bond prior to the booking process being complete. Note that OCJ will often take a bond from us even before background checks have been completed.

If you are interested in bailing a woman out of the Orange County Jail, we encourage you to call us immediately.
