The San Gabriel Police Department is composed of many different divisions and bureaus. The Department encourages a problem solving, community policing philosophy and works collaboratively with the community in addressing problems of crime and disorder and are committed to working with the community to provide quality police services.

The San Gabriel Police Department exists to serve all the people within the community in a professional and timely manner. They work in partnership with all citizens to establish and maintain community peace and enhance the quality of community life.

When someone has been arrested by the San Gabriel Police Department, they will be transported to San Gabriel Police Department Station for booking and processing into the system. (This is a temporary holding facility only.) Some arrestees may remain overnight and go to court the following day. The booking process typically consists of fingerprinting, background and warrant checks along with entering their information into the computer system.

Very often, defendants will be transported to the Monterey Park Police Department Station jail as they are contracted with San Gabriel P.D. for their jail facilities. Further, should the defendant have a medical condition, they will likely be transported to the  either Twin Towers if they are male, or CRDF, also known as Lynwood Jail if they are female.

It's important to know that the booking process can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to complete. A bail bond can be posted at any Los Angeles jail 24 hours a day.
