Here you will find information for the San Jose Police Department Divisions and the communities they serve. Each division listed below features a link for additional SJPD information.

SJPD employs over 1300 sworn officers in 4 Bureaus comprised of 11 divisions with more than 67 specialized Units and assignments. Each division is assigned to patrol districts. These are: Airport Division, Central Division, Foothill Division, Southern Division and Western Division.

When someone is arrested in the San Jose area, inmates will be transported to the Santa Clara County Main Jail Complex for booking and processing into the jail computer system. This jail facility is separated into the Main Jail North and Main Jail South. The main Jail North is equipped to detain approximately 1000 inmates. The Main Jail South is designed to hold approximately 650 inmates.

It’s important to know that the booking process can take up to several hours to complete and typically consists of photographs ("mug shots"), fingerprints, and a nation-wide computer database background check.

A bail bondsman, an attorney, or a member of the clergy may visit inmates at anytime. Bail can be posted at the main jail complex 24 hours a day.

For further information regarding charge, bail or the arrestee, you can call to speak with a bail bondsman 24 hours a day for any of the following San Jose Police Division Stations at (888) BAIL BOND, (888) 224-5266.

    BAIL PROCESS

We recommend beginning the bail process as soon as possible when bailing someone out of the main jail complex in San Jose to facilitate a much faster release. When you bail someone out of the San Jose jail, they should expect to be released within two to six hours or more, depending upon their individual case.

However, if the defendant is not bailed out from jail, he or she will usually remain in custody until the matter has been resolved in court.

The cost of a Santa Clara County bail bond is established by the State of California at 10% of the total bail amount. For example, for a bail amount of $20,000, a bail bond will cost $2,000. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. In many cases, we can also offer no collateral bail bonds for those who qualify.

A licensed bail bondsman can answer all your specific questions and give you more bail bond information 24 hours a day for any jail. Read more about how bail bonds work along with the arrest and bail bond process in California.
