    MADERA COUNTY JAIL

    The Madera County Justice System is enforces State and Federal laws. The County has several departments to accomplish this task. These departments are: the Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Corrections, the District Attorney’s Office, the Probation Department, the Public Defender’s Office, four Justice Courts, three Superior Courts and three Constable Offices.

    The Department of Corrections operates the Adult Correctional Facility which is also known as the Madera County Jail.

    The Madera County Jail houses approximately 400 male and female inmates. An addition to the facility has been approved to increase the jail’s capacity by 144 beds. The anticipated completion date for this expansion is 2013.

    In addition to the Madera County Jail the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation operates two women’s facilities inMaderaCounty.Central CaliforniaWomen’s Facility and Valley State Prison for Women are located in Chowchilla.

    Inmates from these two prisons are transferred to the Madera County Jail if they have outstanding warrants at the time of their release.

    MADERA COUNTY JAIL OPERATIONS

    All jails have specific rules, procedures and regulations that impact how the inmate can communicate with those on the outside and how people outside of jail can get in touch with them.

    Madera County Jail Visiting Rules

    Dates and Times – 7 days a week

    • 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
    • 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
    • 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM

    Due to recent county budget cuts there are some restrictions on visiting days. Call the jail for up-to-date information.

    Visitation Limits

    • Two one half hour visits per week
    • No contact visits
    • Visitors must have photo identification
    • Visitors must be on inmate’s visitor list
    • Accommodations will be made for disabled visitors
    • All visitors are subject to warrant check and searched for contraband
    • Visitors must pass through metal detectors
    • Special visiting rules apply to minor children
    • Maximum of three persons allowed at one time
    • No personal items are allowed in the visiting area
    • Inappropriate behavior by visitors will terminate the visit
    • Visitors must follow promptly any directions by staff
    • Visiting privileges may be lost for violation of facility rules
