San Diego Police Department bust active meth lab

On March 6, San Diego Police Department officials arrested 16 people in the Cherokee Point area of the City Heights neighborhood for operating a meth lab. According to NBC San Diego, the police entered the home acting on a search warrant and found a large amount of methamphetamine.

Fox affiliate KSWB reported the officers had to call in the SWAT team for backup after they discovered what appeared to be a pipe bomb on the property. However, they were later able to determine it wasn't an explosive device.

Theo Lacy Jail escapee captured

An inmate who recently escaped from Theo Lacy Jail in Orange County has been found by authorities. According to ABC Los Angeles affiliate KABC, a tip is what led deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Department to the wanted inmate, 26-year-old Saith Na. Authorities said Na was arrested without incident when he was taken back into custody.

According to ABC, Na was captured at a motel in Oceanside March 2 at about 5:30 a.m.

Na has been in jail since last August on charges stemming from robbery, narcotics, weapon possession and criminal street terrorism offenses, news source ABC says.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department arrests murder suspect

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department arrested a man they believe stabbed his girlfriend to death February 20. According to CBS Los Angeles, Emilio Martinez was arrested March 5 in connection to the February murder.

The victim was identified as 63-year old Carmen King, who was found dead in her home in Montebello with multiple stab wounds, CBS reported. While investigating the incident, the sheriff's department quickly identified Martinez as a person of interest.

After detectives learned he had fled to Mexico, he was deemed a suspect, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.

San Diego Police Department officials are still searching for a suspect they believe was involved in a hit-and-run accident in February. According to CNS News, a 51-year-old man was hit with a car while he was crossing the 7000 block of La Jolla Boulevard on February 6. After the car struck the victim, a woman in a red Range Rover SUV allegedly chased after it, however, she failed to return to the scene of the accident or report the incident to authorities.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department are searching for a suspect after a shooting at a polling place March 5. According to NBC4, the victim of the shooting is a 35-year-old man. The incident took place at Watts elementary school around 9:40 a.m.

A preliminary police investigation said the victim and gunman were arguing outside the polling place before the shooting occurred. The incident is believed to be a domestic dispute as a result of an alleged "love triangle," the article stated

Following an investigation, police discovered the woman was 79-year-old Dinh Evans. The Santa Ana Police Department recently arrested two people involved in what officers are calling a kidnap-for-robbery/stalking case, CBS reported. However, officers said a third suspect involved in the crime has not been found.

Jose Parede​s and the unknown suspect are accused of assaulting a man after pretending to be Ontario police officers. The other arrested individual, Rosa Tinoco, allegedly constructed the scheme to attack the man, who is believed to be her ex-boyfriend, according to CBS. Tinoco allegedly convinced the two men to carry out the assault on the victim after he ended their relationship.

Santa Ana police said they have arrested the man who broke into a woman's apartment, held her hostage and forced her to cook a meal for him. According to ABC affiliate KABC, local transient Thomas Walker was already in police custody for selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer when officers determined he had previously broken into the woman's apartment as well as another apartment in the same building complex.
