Task force aims to keep people out of San Joaquin jail

In an effort to keep jail inmate populations in control and prevent criminals released from prison as a result of the state's realignment program from committing offenses, San Joaquin County created a task force. Fox reported the Community Corrections Partnership Task Force is a joint effort  involving county police departments from Lodi, Stockton, Manteca and Tracy.

Oakland Arrest Numbers Down Significantly

Records indicate that Oakland’s arrest numbers in 2011 are down from three years earlier. This includes anything from minor offenses like drunk in public, to more severe arrests for drug busts and armed robbery.

The California prison realignment program took effect in October 2011, and shortly after, San Diego County began a program through the Center for Employment Opportunity that is helping former prison and jail inmates find jobs and transition to life post-incarceration. Men indicted on drug charges, held at Orange County Jail

Three men are being held at Orange County jails on charges relating to an attempt to sell one pound of methamphetamine in numerous local communities, the OC Weekly reported.

Forty-three-year-old Jon Jason Mashburn, 28-year-old Dustin Craig Boston and 38-year-old Lorie Catherine Beck tried selling the narcotic to a person who ended up being a police informer, in August. Mashburn has been arrested six times before on drug-related charges and is being held at the Orange County Jail along with Boston, according to OC Weekly. Beck is being held at the Santa Ana Jail.

Millbrae man booked at San Mateo County jail

A 49-year-old man was recently taken to a San Mateo County jail on suspicion he abused young relatives.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Department Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt told the San Mateo County Times that Richard Kenneth Watterworth was arrested at his home late last month after a family member reported the abuse of children, which is alleged to have been going on for a while. The San Mateo County Sheriff's Department said it will work with local police agencies to combat crime in the area, NBC Bay Area reported. Nearly 30 people were arrested in San Diego on a recent November evening after the San Diego Sheriff's Department conducted a "zero tolerance drunk in public sweep," The Coast News reported. A total of 28 individuals were arrested in Encinitas and many were taken to a local San Diego County jail.

In early December, the Manhattan Beach Police Department will hold a seminar at a local school to talk to parents about how they can keep their children safe from online predators and crime.

A San Diego County Sheriff's Department deputy was recently attacked and injured by a jail inmate. The deputy was processing the inmate at the San Diego Central Jail, who had been arrested for a parole violation, when the inmate attacked the deputy and tried to run away, the North County Times reported.

Two cab drivers in San Diego were reportedly robbed at gunpoint early in the morning of November 26, the North County Times reported.
