    SACRAMENTO STATE UNIVERSITY POLICE

The primary concern of the Sacramento State University Police is the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, staff and visitors. Officers are the primary respondents to campus emergencies and reports of any criminal activity on campus. The men and women in the University Police Department are fully certified, sworn police officers.

Their responsibilities include public safety, documenting crimes and accidents, investigating crimes, traffic enforcement, opening locked vehicles, providing battery packs, free bike registration, offering crime prevention information, fire/ medical aid and security for special events.

Services are provided 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Officers are vested will full law enforcement powers and are POST certified. Students can become Community Service Officers, working to provide additional patrol to campus grounds and housing complexes.

The sworn officers of the field operations division patrol the campus and surrounding area 24-hours a day, on foot, bicycle and in patrol cars. The officers are the first responders to all reported crimes and emergencies on campus. There are approximately 18 officers in the field operations division.

    HOW IS BAIL DETERMINED?

In California, bail amounts are among the highest in the country. Each county sets its own bail schedule. Sacramento County judges conduct an annual review of the schedule which will be used by local law enforcement agencies when setting bail for people arrested in their jurisdiction.

Judges will always consider public safety first when setting a defendant's bail. Repeat offenders, those who commit serious crimes and anyone considered a flight risk will have higher bail amounts. In some instances, the judge could decide to reduce the bail amount, release the defendant on their own recognizance, or hold them without bail.

    COST & PAYMENT OPTIONS

The cost of a bail bond is set by the California Department of Insurance at 10% of the bail amount. So, if a defendant's bail is set at $10,000, you will pay a bondsman $1,000 for their services.

We understand that paying for a bail bond is an unexpected expense. That is why we offer many convenient payment options, including acceptance of all major credit cards and making payment plans for qualifying clients.
