MONTCLAIR POLICE DEPARTMENT AND JAIL INFORMATION

The Montclair Police Department meets the law enforcement safety needs of the community through the effective use of personnel within the Department. They have evolved into a community-oriented organization who currently employ 60 sworn officers.

When someone has been taken into custody in Montclair, they will be taken to the Montclair police station temporarily for processing. Once that's complete, they will likely be transported to the much larger, West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga for booking.

The booking process typically consists of fingerprinting, background check, check for warrants and entering the information into the computer system. The arrestee will be searched for weapons and their personal belongings will be catalogued and held by the jailer.

While in custody, they will not have access to their money, credit cards, or cell phones. Once clear and the bond has been posted, release from these jails can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending upon the jail staff and the defendant's individual situation.

We always recommend starting the bail process as quickly as possible, to facilitate a faster release for the defendant from any San Bernardino County jail. It’s important to know that if the defendant is not bailed out, he or she will generally remain in custody until the matter has been resolved in court.

    BAIL BOND PROCESS

We want to make sure every aspect of the bail process moves smoothly for our clients. During our initial phone consultation with you, we will ask basic questions about the defendant.

Questions such as; how long they have been detained, the amount of their bail, what their charges are, how long they’ve lived in their current residence, if they’re currently employed, etc., are not unusual for us to ask. When the bond has been approved by a licensed bondsman, all the necessary forms will need to be filled out and signed.
