Brea has a cutting edge police department that boasts highly-trained officers and state of the art technology. Their law enforcement services are varied and include canine units, a bicycle patrol and a Community Action Patrol. This department also provides police service to the city of Yorba Linda on a contract basis.

They follow an operations model that is different from a traditional law enforcement organization in that they prefer to collaborate with their citizens and each other.  As a result, they have won a great deal of community support.

The officers of the Brea Police Department officers are dedicated to providing quality public safety services, and they are always looking for people to join their team.  The department is under the command of one Chief who leads more than 160 men and women.

The department also supports local residents and anyone in law enforcement who are dealing with cancer.  To that end, they are active in the Law Enforcement Cancer Support Foundation. The Foundation's mission is to provide a free emotional support system, guidance and resources to anyone fighting this disease.

The Brea Police have created a Professional Standards Unit in an effort to address employee development and misconduct. This unit is responsible for supervising the School Resource Unit, as well. The SRU consists of five full-time sworn Brea officers that deal with local youth issues.

The Brea Police Department has a holding facility which is used to contain arrestees while they are booked into the system.  Bail can be posted here, but for those who are not eligible, the Orange County Jail awaits.

Brea is located in the northeast corner of Orange County, near Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.  It has a strong commercial and industrial base, as well as a population of about 39,870 people.

The city has a diverse landscape that ranges from quaint neighborhoods dating back to the 1920s to modern developments, planned apartment communities and five mobile home parks.
