    The Placer County Sheriff’s Department provides a number of services including air operations, chaplaincy, a civil division, community service services, a coroner, corrections services, crime analysis, dispatch and dive teams, evidence and property teams (crime scene evidence collection,  crime scene photography, crime scene fingerprint collection. lab processing and evidence / property storage), an explorer program (which educates young person in police and law enforcement operations), an honor guard, a team of hostage negotiators, investigations units, a K-9 unit, marine (water) patrols, records services, a reserves team, search and rescue personnel, information technology and human resources personnel as well as special enforcement and special operations teams.

    Placer County is among the fastest growing counties in California, with most of its residents residing in the southern portion of the county.  Because of the ever-growing populations in the cities Rocklin, Roseville, Loomis and Lincoln, county officials soon hope to construct an additional detention facility in that area.

    If someone is arrested by a Placer County Sheriff’s Department they will be transported to the Placer County Main Jail to be booked and processed.   The main jail facility, located at 2775 Richardson Drive, was first opened in 1985 and currently has the capacity to house 352 inmates.  The county further has a minimum security detention facility, located at 1141 F Avenue, Auburn, CA, 95603.

    The Loomis Substation covers areas from the Sacramento County Line to Newcastle and serves the communities of Loomis, Sheridan, Sunset Estates, Rural Lincoln, Granite Bay, the West Roseville/ Dry Creek area, Ophir, Penryn and Newcastle.  Lead by a Sherriff’s Captain, the Loomis Substation staffs 33 patrol positions, four patrol sergeants, four D.A.R.E. officers, four school resource officers, three detectives, one Community Services / School Safety sergeant,  one community service officer,  one full-time traffic enforcement officer, volunteers, personal staff and several reserve deputies.   It is also equipped with a Critical Accident Report team which responds to fatality and major vehicle accidents.
    The station further provides bike-team services which are assigned to commercial corridors and high-density areas.

    Sherriff’s Team of Active Residents (S.T.A.R.S) volunteers, in addition to office volunteers, are also utilized to assist with the abatement of abandoned vehicles, to provide home checks for vacationing residents, assist with traffic details during community events, supervise inmate worker car wash crews for county-owned vehicles, and to provide other assistance as needed.

    This station contracts with the Placer County Sheriff's office for services related to law enforcement.
