ARREST, BAIL AND RELEASE INFORMATION
Those who are taken into custody in Monterey will either be brought to the Monterey Police Station on Madison Street, or Monterey County’s main jail which is located in Salinas.
When arrested, inmates must be booked and processed into the jail’s computer system. We are unable to post a bond until the defendant is completely booked and cleared for bail. The booking process generally consists of photographs, fingerprints, and a nation-wide computer database background check. This can often take several hours to complete.
Once the bond has been posted, release from jail can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. If the defendant is not bailed out from jail, he or she will generally remain in custody until the matter has been resolved in court.
A bail bond in Monterey typically costs 10%, which is mandated by California law. This is a non-refundable percentage of the total amount of the bail. For example, if the bail amount is set at $25,000, your portion would be $2,500.
Most of our clients find using their credit card the easiest and most convenient to pay for a bail bond. Additionally, should you need payment arrangements, we offer creative solutions and flexible financing options. We’ll advise you if you qualify within minutes and we’ll work out payments with no additional finance charges, taxes or fees.
If you are attempting to bail someone out of jail in Monterey County and need assistance in determining the location of the inmate, charges or booking information, feel free to contact one of our 24-hour licensed bail agents.
