Phone: 707-464-4191
Del Norte County is located at the northwest corner of California and borders the State of Oregon. The 1,229 square mile county is populated with more than 28,000 residents. It is well-known for its redwood forests and is the location of the famous Patterson-Gimlin Bigfoot film. Several scenes from Return of the Jedi were also filmed here.
The men and women of the Del Norte Sheriff's Department are responsible for maintaining the peace and providing a safe community for those who live and work in the county. The department has a patrol division, jail division, civil office, court security and countywide emergency communications. They also provide search and rescue services and a boating safety unit.
There are currently sixteen officers assigned to active patrol. The investigations unit is made up of detectives and the narcotics enforcement team. Communication and property/evidence is the responsibility of the patrol commander.
DEL NORTE COUNTY JAIL
The Del Norte Jail is adjacent to the county courthouse. It houses both pre-trial and sentenced inmates. Jail commanders and administration work together to improve the efficient operation of the facility and provide continual upgrades.
When someone is arrested in Del Norte County, they will be transported to the jail for booking. The booking process consists of fingerprinting, photographs, a background check and warrant search. This could take anywhere from 2-4 hours to complete, depending on how busy jail staff is at the time an offender is brought in.
Bail can be posted only after the individual is completely booked into the system.
When you call 888-224-5266, we can post bail for your loved one at the Del Norte Jail 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.
BAIL RESPONSIBILITIES
When you enter into a bail agreement with a bondsman, you become what is known as an "indemnitor." You are agreeing to be the person responsible for the bail contract and the defendant.
By signing an agreement with a bail bondsman, you agree to pay the bail bond premium in full. This is the fee that is set by the state of California. It is equal to 10% of the total bail amount. This fee is non-refundable. Even if the defendant is found not guilty or charges are not filed, this fee must be paid.
It is your responsibility to make sure that, once released, the defendant shows up at any court appearances. If the defendant fails to appear, you are responsible to help the bondsman get the defendant back into court. Simple mistakes like oversleeping or car trouble can be addressed with a phone call for rescheduling.
You must make sure that the defendant's information, such as address and employer, remain current. If the defendant leaves town or "goes on the run," it is your responsibility to notify the courts and bondsman of their whereabouts, if they are known to you. You should be aware this is very rare.
For Del Norte bail bonds, speak to a bondsman at 888-BAIL-BOND and we will get to work right away.
