The City of Stanton is located in northwestern Orange County. Around 39,000 people call this city, which is 3.1 square miles in size, home. The City was incorporated in 1956 and its motto - Community Pride and Forward Vision, sums up how pleased the locals are by the recent revitalization of their commercial and residential areas and some major new developments that have taken place in their city. Residents here enjoy carefully planned city amenities like great parks, a family resource center and annual holiday events and programs. One of Stanton’s most famous attractions is the Adventure City Amusement Park.

Stanton had formed its own police department in 1956, but a union strike citing poor working conditions caused it to disband and be taken over by the Sheriff's Department in 1988. Ever since then, the Orange County Sheriff's Department has provided full police services to Stanton. Their Sheriffs Station remained virtually unchanged since 1971, but now it, too, is undergoing a renovation. While this takes place, Stanton Sheriffs continue to enforce the law at their temporary location, across from Stanton City Hall at 7855 Katella Ave., Stanton, Ca. 90680. The temporary station is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closed on holidays.

The OC Sheriff's Department provides 44 staff members to the City of Stanton. Their major duties include responding to service calls, conducting preventive patrols, and running directed foot and vehicular patrols. Deputies provide traffic enforcement in areas where accidents are frequent and they follow-up on patrol arrests and cases with workable leads. Their service desk is open to the public five days a week.

A Lieutenant from the OC Sheriff’s Department, serves as the Chief of Police. He is in charge of 5 Sergeants, 3 Investigators, 2 Investigative Aides, 25 Deputy Sheriffs, 1 Administrative Manager, 1 Office Manager and 3 additional professional staff members. Many of Stanton’s reserve Deputy Sheriffs also volunteer their time at city events like Summerfest and the Annual Classic Car show.

Some of the Stanton Sheriffs’ duties include an Investigative Unit that follows up on all of the cases generated from reports taken by patrol deputies (excluding homicide, rape, fraud, vice and narcotics, which are handled by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigations Division).

They also have a Directed Patrol Team made up of 3 Deputies who focus on specific problem areas within the city. Several more are involved in a collaborative program with the Anaheim Police Department, the G.R.I.P. program, Gang Reduction and Intervention Program. This last program targets at risk youth in the elementary schools.

The Stanton Sheriff’s Station has a Bicycle Patrol Unit and they support all the Neighborhood and Business Watch Programs.
