    VERNON POLICE DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Vernon Police Department and Jail consists of 59 sworn and 25 civilian men and women dedicated to providing outstanding law enforcement services.

The Patrol Division has 33 officers assigned to two 12-hour shifts. The department is proud of its average response time of less than four minutes for emergency calls for service.

When arrested by the Vernon Police Department, the detainee will be taken to the Vernon P.D. station jail.  The Vernon Police Department operates its own city jail which is classified as Type I.

The city jail is used to to hold prisoners for not more than 96 hours, excluding holidays. Depending upon the workload of the jail, the booking process can take anywhere between 1 to 4 hours. The Vernon jail is a smaller facility.

While there, the defendant will be booked and processed into the jail system which generally consists of photographs, fingerprints and conducting a nation-wide background check.

The jail facility has four cell blocks. Each cell block has one or two separate cells. Further, each cell block has a shared shower and a bench and table area. There is also a cell block which is used for female inmates along with a sobering cell used for housing prisoners who are intoxicated .

Because this is a temporary holding facility, should an arrestee not be bailed out quickly, they may be transferred to one of the larger Los Angeles facilities; Twin Tower jail for men or Lynwood jail for women. If they are transferred, it will take much longer for their release from jail.

We make it easy to pay for the bond by accepting cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. In many cases, we can also offer no collateral bail bonds and do what is called a "signature bond."

We also offer creative and flexible payment options to those that qualify. For further information, you can watch our informative bail payment option video.
