USING A BONDSMAN

Bail will be set by the jailor who determines bail by reviewing the bail schedule. The defendant can post bail for themselves, however, most bail bonds are obtained by others on behalf of the defendant.

When you call a bondsman, it is helpful if you know:

1. Defendant's full name
2. City they are being jailed
3. Date-of-birth of defendant is helpful

The bail bondsman will then guide you through the bail bond process.

With our company, a bondsman can meet you at the jail, come to your home or office or transact the bail bond via computer.

After the brief state required paperwork is completed, the bondsman will "post" the bail bond at the Cerritos jail.

The jail staff will then begin the process of release which may take a couple of hours. We ask our customers to be patient with the jail staff.

They are often understaffed and have multiple shifting priorities, the first of which is safety.

AFTER BAIL: GOING TO COURT

We recommend that our clients determine precisely what court location they need to attend. Just because one is arrested in the Cerritos area does not mean that they will go to the Cerritos courthouse. Many factors determine which court is appropriate.

After an arrest, usually the defendant will receive a letter from the court explaining the location and time for the court appearance.

Alternatively, your bondsman should be able to help you with that information.
