    CSU LA PUBLIC SAFETY

The Department of Public Safety provides services to students, faculty and staff at Cal State's LA campus and is made up of several components: University Police, Investigations/ Crime Prevention, Parking Services, Key Control, Transportation Services, Lock Shop, Emergency Preparedness and Security of Records. Each section works together, ensuring that the campus is a safe place to study, teach, work, live and visit.

Officers of the Cal State LA University Police Department protect people and property by providing law enforcement services while promoting community involvement and assistance. Their ultimate goal is to create the safest possible environment on campus.

    CRIME PREVENTION

Law enforcement encourages citizens to mark their property with an identifying number, inscribing driver's license or ID card numbers into the item. This will help officers identify property that has been lost or stolen. The Department of Public Safety will loan out an engraver for this purpose free of charge.

The University offers a Rape Aggression Defense program for women. The course is designed to teach awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while also teaching the basics of hands-on defense. Courses are taught by nationally certified RAD instructors.

    Safety Escort

The Safety Escort Service is a student-based program that provides personal escort service for students, faculty, staff and visitors 24-hours a day, and 7-days a week. Using this service greatly improves personal safety when walking to vehicles or housing at night. To request an escort, call 323-343-3700.

    Parking

Parking regulations are enforced on campus 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. Daily permits are available at any parking permit machine located in Lots 1, 2, 5, 7 and 11, as well as Structure A (all levels), Structure B (C-level), and Structure C (Yellow Level).
