TRUCKEE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND JAIL INFORMATION

The Truckee Police Department officers and staff serve in partnership with Town government employees and the Town’s citizens to preserve and enhance a high quality of life in the finest community in the Sierra Nevada Range.

Patrolling the city are 26 sworn police officers Truckee Police Department officers are trained to handle any call, and they receive specialized training in various disciplines almost every month.

BOOKING AND RELEASE PROCESS

Those arrested by the Truckee Police Department will be transported to the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility. The facility jail can house 250+ inmates and is designed to house maximum, medium, and minimum-security inmates.

During the arrest and booking process, if applicable, the bail amount will be established based on the Nevada County bail schedule. Depending upon the workload of the jail staff, the booking process can take anywhere between 1 to 4 hours.

The inmate booking process for the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility generally consists of taking photos, fingerprinting, background checks, etc. Once the defendant has been booked into the jail system, they will have several release options.
