The San Jose PD Foothill Division is made up of four police districts. They are Charles, Mary, Paul and William. These include more than 623 street miles. The San Jose Foothill Division borders the City of Milpitas and the East Foothills of San Jose. Areas in the Foothill Division also include Lake Cunningham, Alum Rock Park, Reid-Hillview Airport, Eastridge Mall and Raging Waters.

When someone is arrested in the Foothill Division area, they will likely be taken for processing and booking to the San Jose jail. This is the main jail complex in Santa Clara County. When an arrestee is transported to the San Jose main jail complex, they must be processed into the system. The booking process, which typically consists of a background check, photographs and fingerprints, can often take from 2 to 4 or more hours to complete, depending on how busy the staff is at the main jail complex.
