    MAIN JAIL INFORMATION

The Santa Cruz County Main Jail Corrections Division provides a safe and secure atmosphere for inmates housed in the facility. The county Main Jail Facility operates twenty-four hours per day, every day of the year.

Jail Facility Commanders are responsible for managing and supervising daily operations in the jail. This includes overseeing staff, inmate transports, medical care, programs, family and professional visits. Facility Commanders coordinate with county agencies and outside contractors to make sure the jail is secure and well maintained.

When arrested in Santa Cruz County, men will generally be transported to the Santa Cruz Main Jail for booking and processing. Woman will likely be transported to the Blaine Street Jail.

The Main Jail facility has an average daily population of approximately 400 inmates. It is the main jail for the County and is the only booking facility within the County. Our company can post a bond at this jail 24 hours a day.

Once at the jail, the defendant’s booking process can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours or more, depending on the size and workload of the staff. The booking process generally consists of nationwide background checks or any holds, photographs ("mug shots"), and fingerprints.

We realize it's difficult to be patient when someone you care for has been arrested, however, once the defendant is clear we can process a bail bond for their release. When you do bail someone out of the Santa Cruz Main jail they should expect to be released within two to six hours or more, depending upon their individual circumstances.

A professional, caring bail bondsman can help you understand how the bail bond process works at this jail and can answer any questions you may have.
