    GARFIELD STATION INFORMATION

The Garfield Division Station (which heads up the North Division) of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department serves a community of around 420,000 residents. Their jurisdiction extends from Carmichael, to Fair Oaks, Gold River, Orangevale, to Arden-Arcade, Foothill Farms, Antelope, North Highlands, Rio Linda, Elverta and the Garden Highway.

The Garfield Station, along with the Marconi Sheriff’s Service Center Substations, was created as places where citizens could go to report non violent crimes that weren’t in progress. The SCSs are: the Carmichael Service Center, the Sheriff Service Center, the West Area Service Center and the Marconi Service Center. Their job is to free up Sacramento deputies from the North Division so they can tackle crimes of a more serious nature. The service centers are staffed with both volunteers and county employees to handle this type of caseload.

In addition to taking crime reports, staffers run a lot of community-related programs like Business and Neighborhood Watch Groups; they make vacation home checks, file reports on vehicle burglary, take fingerprints and more.

Each station also has an Office Manager and they all share the Sheriff’s Department Crime Prevention Specialist. She works out of the Marconi Service Center and the Service Center for the Arden-Arcade Community. There, she cultivates partnerships with locals based upon area needs and she works with these groups to reduce the crime by providing resources and education. She also keeps residents abreast of any rise or change in crime patterns.

The Garfield Station and its CSC Substations do not have on-site jails, so anyone that deputies and police officers arrest in Sacramento County will be transported to the Sacramento Main Jail, which is also run by the Sheriff’s Department. Bail may be posted at this jail 24/7.

    WHY USE A BAIL BONDSMAN?

There are four ways for an arrestee to be released from custody: Someone they know can pay the full amount of the bail in cash to the court or jail; they can put up collateral such as a home; a court judge can decide that the arrestee will be released on their own recognizance (known as "OR", in which case no bail payment is necessary) or a person can pay a fee that is 10% of the entire amount by going through a bail bondsman.

All of these options may be possibilities for you, but you should know that for most people high bail amounts are prohibitive for cash bail. A property bond generally takes about 90 days to secure and waiting on a judge not only takes three business days, but the judge may actually raise the bail instead of granting an "OR".
